Dual Media Filtration (DMF) Systems
Pre-treatment for RO plants and general turbidity removal
A Dual Media Filter (DMF) is highly efficient compared to a standard Pressure Sand Filter. At Shree Aditya (Founded 2005), we design and build DMF systems from a mix of Anthracite Coal and Fine Sand to produce deeper filtration and higher flow rates.
Our DMF-Dual Media Filter systems are an advancement in technology over traditional sand filters by using a multi-layered system of sand and anthracite for filtration.
Each layer of filtration has a different density providing deeper bed penetration and also results in far superior turbidity removal and flow rates without causing any blockage or clogging.
Developed with almost two decades of experience, our industrial water purification DMF systems will provide longer operating cycles and will reduce the frequency of backwashing while still providing clear water for use in critical industrial processes.
Why Choose Dual Media over Single Media?
- Higher Flow Rate – DMF’s can handle almost twice the flow rate per square foot as sand filters.
- Smoother Water Quality – Anthracite will capture the small particles of dirt/sand that a sand filter cannot.
- Less Frequent Back Washing – DMF filters require less frequent back washing which saves water & energy.
Technical Specification:
| Component | Material Specification |
| Top Layer | Anthracite Coal (Low Density) |
| Bottom Layer | Fine Quartz Sand (High Density) |
| Vessel MOC | FRP / MS Epoxy Coated / Stainless Steel |
| Backwash | Manual or Automatic Multi-Port Valve |

Whereas a sand filter utilizes a single layer of filtration media. Dual Media Filtration utilizes a blend of an Anthracite (low-density) and Sand (high-density) which allows for deeper bed filtration, faster flow rates, and a greater ability to remove turbidity than just using a sand filter alone.
Depending on the quality of raw water, the Anthracite and sand filtration media have an approximate life of two to three years, with proper backwashing reducing mud balls and ensuring optimum operating performance.
DMF primarily removes physical particles. However, to effectively remove odor and color, we always recommend adding an Activated Carbon Filter or our integrated Dual Media + Softener skid.
